Some more photos.....

Just thought I'd post a few more photos before we leave London.

Here's Matt and the kids collecting poppies from the roadside near a memorial from the Battle of The Somme...The kids getting their first horse riding lesson in Basque Country....

...and finally St Emilion...

It certainly has been an adventure and we even managed to sell Dolly!!! I must say I am looking forward to living in a house again though - one camper is a small space for 4 people especially in London, when it is raining!

Will update with news of our new home in Australia once we are settled.

Back in London

Ok......we have been off the Internet for a while because the laptop decided a few weeks back to not connect to wireless.

Anyway we made it to Spain and then came back up France through the middle.
Got to Calais and I lost 2nd and 4th gear. So had to limp onto the ferry and then in Dover the RAC towed us back to London. Now selling it for 500 on gumtree......seems to be a bit of interest.

So we made it (just) and are now living outside our old flat for the next week hanging out with the neighbours and seeing the last sites of London we never saw.

Good to be back somewhere where I can talk to people other than '1 baguette, 2 croissants please' and everything does not close during the day while the country has a snooze.

Will get some photos up soon :-)

As we cross the border into Spain i thought i would share with you my list of things NOT to do when camping in France:

1) Tell your children to "go and explore" when you are staying on a family farm in the middle of nowhere (I was just gathering a search party when they reappeared, wide eyed and innocent).

2) Confuse an "Aire de Camping" with a Gypsy settlement....

3) Expect the mate of the guy you bought your camper from to do a competent job of replacing your brake cylinders...

4) Expect to find a "nice quiet spot" in a coastal town (no matter how small) in August.

5) Give up on finding the perfect place to stay, it is always just around the corner.

some other things that have happened.

The alternator went and we stopped moving on day 4. A kind mechanic lighten my wallet of 330 euros to help out....sweet.

Paris could do without the pompidou center. It looks like a toilet and on 3 of its four sides it is used as one.

If you want a mini Eiffel tower there is a guy selling them in Paris. He has a man working for him every 10 feet or so.

You can't learn French in 3 weeks.

Disneyland is a great place to practise queueing.

Don't think of coming here without a satnav (they write in French also)

I have discovered the 10 movies that I downloaded to watch are all password protected.

There seems a conspicuous absence of birds in France.....do they eat them? But they do have these bugs that light up at night.

The internet I am using is slower than dial up ..... yay

Bonjour

It's been over 2 weeks since we left London and this is the first time we've had internet access - so much for maintaining the blog!
We are eating way too many baguettes, croissants, cheese and dried sausage, drinking too much wine and generally having a brilliant time.
From rambling in Kent to climbing the Eiffel Tower, 2 days at Disneyland and lots of sun, sea and surf. We are currently at Omaha Beach in Normandy due to Tylers interest in WW2.
Very interesting, moving and also a beautiful beach. We are planning to head South along the coast tomorrow to La Rochelle and then on to Bordeaux and hopefully Spain over the next few weeks.

Heading off

Off today. Spent the last week moving all the stuff from the house into the camper to make sure its good and full.

Ms Snuffles came in to check it out......here she is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WlsdOJrir0....Tyler is going to miss her a lot.

We are staying at a farm site http://www.coldblow-camping.co.uk/ for the next 2 nights to over to France.
4 years in London never knew they had farms outside it.....I thought it was just houses as far as the eye can see and then the north somewhere up there.

I have been awake all night thinking about the campervan - only half an hours sleep :-(

Tyler, Ashley & Dolly

The kids are loving the campervan! We've had her serviced, sourced a spare wheel (not as easy as you'd think) and are getting a seatbelt fitted in the back today (there are three already across the front). Still thinking about doing some decorating inside as it is all very 80's brown at the moment. Suggestions welcome....
